This morning, members of the Namche Youth Group, with support from the Nepal Army, Namche police, and Sagarmatha National Park, came together to clean the iconic bridge at the confluence of the Dude Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. The event, initiated by the Namche Youth Group, focused on removing old chat scarves and prayer flags, giving the bridge a fresh and clean look while honoring its importance to the Khumbu region.
This bridge is more than just a structure; it is a vital lifeline for Khumbu, connecting Namche to surrounding villages and serving as the only route for trekkers, locals, and cargo entering the region on foot. However, during the cleanup, it became clear that the bridge is in urgent need of maintenance and repair. For the safety and convenience of everyone who relies on it, now is the time to act and ensure its upkeep for years to come.
We are grateful to everyone who participated in this meaningful initiative. Together, we can protect and sustain the infrastructure that keeps Khumbu connected and thriving.
