Namche Porter Shelter

Namche Porter Shelter

The Namche Porter Shelter is a community initiative dedicated to providing a safe and affordable resting place for porters who work tirelessly in the Everest region. Located in Namche Bazaar, the shelter accommodates 40 to 50 porters per night, offering them free lodging and meals at a highly subsidized rate.
Understanding the critical role porters play in the trekking and mountaineering industry, the shelter ensures they have a warm and comfortable place to rest after long, strenuous journeys. It also promotes dignity and well-being for porters, many of whom carry heavy loads over challenging terrains in extreme weather conditions.
Funded through community contributions and generous supporters, the shelter is an example of youth-driven social responsibility in Namche. The Namche Youth Group actively manages the shelter, ensuring its smooth operation and advocating for porter welfare.
Visitors and trekkers are welcome to support the initiative through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, helping us continue providing essential services to those who are the backbone of Himalayan trekking.
