ON April 22nd, as the World marked Earth Day, the Namche community came together with a shared purpose- to give back to the land that sustains us.
This year, our focus was clear: restore a degraded area affected by landslides and turn it into a space of group and resilience.
With support from the local government, we were able to construct terraces on a vulnerable hillside just below the Main gateway to Namche Bazar. What was once unstable ground is now a carefully prepared landscape, ready to support new life.
To mark the occasion, we planted 100 saplings of Juniper and rhododendron- native species that not only stabilize the soil but also reflect the natural beauty of Namche.
What made thus initiative truly special was the unity behind it.
People from all walks of life participated:
Representatives from the Nepal Army
Officers from Nepal Police
Namche Women Group
Local residents and youth groups
Community leaders and volunteers
Together we worked side by side- digging, planting and sharing a common goal of environmental stewardship.
In addition to the plantation, we also carried out a cleanup campaign at the Namche Water Spring.
